Just Another Day

Games We Play

Somehow, this morning, playing with a bouncy ball turned into a game of fetch and both of my children turned into little puppies eager to crawl after a ball and bring it back to me, in their mouth of course. Who would have thought that something so silly would be so much fun, but both of them loved "chasing" after the balls. Never thought I would be scratching my kids behind the ears and telling them "Good doggy"! And let me tell you, this was not a short-lived game, either. I had to draw the line though, when Calvin told me it was my turn to "fetch". No thanks, I'll pass on that...
Cheap Entertainment
My garage door has been broken for months. I finally got somebody out today to fix it. Of course they didn't get there until after five (since I had been waiting since noon...) but as it turns out, their timing was perfect. As I finished getting dinner ready the boys sat, enthralled, at the garage door and watched the men work. I just had to snap a picture.

Independent Reader

Tonight I read Luke his stories and went to put him into bed, but he jumped down and grabbed another book and got back in his chair. So I said goodnight, walked out, and closed the door, just to see what he would do. I opened it back up to check on him right away, he looked at me and said 'Bye, Mommy'. Well, I can take a hint, so I left again. But I couldn't resist and had to go back to check on him. I opened the door just a tad so I could peek in and I watched him "read" his book, then get down and search for another book in his basket, get back up into his rocking chair and read the next book. He did that three times before he apparently found a book that I just had to read to him, at which point he came calling for me, and then led me back to his chair to read the last book. I thought it was pretty cute, but I hope this is not the beginning of bedtime stalling tactics.

I remember drinking water and eating cereal out of a bowl pretending to be a kitty when I was a kid. I think its great that they are using their imaginations! My kids aren't interested in pretend play very much. Do you have Luke in a toddler bed or crib?

Very cute! Whatever keeps them occupied. I love the cute picture of them laying on the floor watching the repair men. I have the same question as Tracy, is Luke in a toddler bed already? If he is, I'd like to know how that is going.

Oh, Luke is still in his crib and will be until he figures out how to climb out of it (or hits 3, whichever comes first, but I suspect it will be the climbing out). I am in no hurry to deal with that challenge!

Lol they are soooo funny! I love the idea of sitting and let them do all the work. Going to see if I can implement some "obedience" training over here! ;-)

Too cute...I am a fan of any "game" that keeps both kids entertained for that long!
